Private landlords and agents invited to consult on Govt plan to mandate disability adaptations in rented properties
The DLUHC has launched a consultation on Govt plans to require landlords across all tenures, including the private rented sector, to make reasonable adaptations to the "common parts" of rented properties (typically flats) where requested to by a tenant with disabilities.
The plan is in line with the provisions of the Equalities Act 2010 so that "disabled people are not put at a substantial disadvantage compared with others" and is also part of the Govt's levelling up agenda.
The consultation information and document can be accessed here.
