Updated "User Guide" to carrying out right to rent checks published for landlords and tenants by Home Office
The Home Office has published an updated "User Guide" on how to carry out right to rent checks and what documents are acceptable. The user guide is published for use by both landlords and tenants and contains a frequently asked questions (FAQ) section along with information on checking the validity of documents, retaining evidence and what to do if you do not have standard identity documents.
This is particularly important for landlords as right to rent checks will go digital from April (although some covid pandemic related adjustments to the process are currently set to remain in place until September).
