Charnwood Borough Council to put on virtual forum for landlords and agents explaining its new selective and additional licensing schemes and how to make a licence application

The new private rented property licensing schemes will come into force on 1st April 2023, online applications for licences will open from 1st February 2023 and the advice forum will be held, via Microsoft Teams, on 7th February at 6 p.m.
Landlords will need a selective licence for properties they rent out in the 2 wards of Hastings and Lemyngton in Loughborough and an HMO licence for smaller HMOs occupied by 3 or 4 unrelated people anywhere in the borough of Charnwood. Charnwood already operates mandatory HMO licensing for larger HMOs. Licence fees for the new schemes are set at £700 per application.
The council says that at the virtual forum landlords and agents will be provided "with an overview of the licensing schemes and a demonstration of the online application process. There will also be an opportunity to ask any questions about applying for the schemes". There will be council representatives at the forum as well as representatives from the provider of the online application platform - MetaStreet.
Landlords and agents wishing to take advantage of the virtual forum are asked to email the council to sign up by Sunday 5th February.
