Gedling Borough Council plan to limit HMO numbers likely not to go ahead due to "insufficient evidence"

Despite concerns amongst residents about growth of HMO numbers, Gedling borough council seems unlikely to go ahead with plans to restrict numbers of HMO's saying that there is insufficient evidence for it to make an article 4 direction to restrict HMO growth in the Netherfield area in the borough. Council officers have apparently confirmed that the plan will not go ahead and will not be signed off by council cabinet at an upcoming cabinet meeting this month.
However, local MP Tom Randall has said that the council have "continued to turn their backs on the community" and that the council's "reactive stance" has meant that more affordable family homes will be taken off the market as a result of the decision not to go ahead with the plan.
