Private rented sector landlords "feel let down by Government" says NRLA after surveying 3,500 landlords

Immediately after publication of the Govt white paper on rental reform in England the National Residential Landlord Association surveyed 3,500 landlords and says the results show that "Almost 90% of landlords feel the .... white paper .... demonstrates an anti-landlord agenda."
Furthermore, 87% of the surveyed landlords said the white paper and "Government rhetoric are hostile towards landlords" and 77% said the rental reform proposals "represent a serious risk to landlords' businesses" with 71% saying they felt they were being driven out of the sector.
A big problem for the landlords surveyed was the abolition of section 21 no fault eviction notices as many thought it would make it more difficult to evict anti-social tenants - although relative to the high numbers who stated their unhappiness with the proposals, only 18% said they would be unable to carry on operating if section 21 were to be abolished.
In responding to the Government the NRLA has asked for, amongst other requests, "firm principles as to how councils and police can support landlords to tackle anti-social tenants quickly and effectively."
