Ealing Council's new additional and selective licence schemes start on April 1st - will include £100 fee for paper applications
Ealing Council is to commence its new additional and selective licensing schemes from April 1st 2022. Whilst the council lists various licence fee discounts - including a £50 discount for properties with a minimum energy efficiency (EPC) rating of C - the ongoing push to digital interaction between Local Authorities (and national government departments generally) and the public can be seen in the warning that applications submitted on paper rather than online will be subject to a £100 administration fee. In addition, any private landlord needing help from the council with their application will have to pay a £50 administration fee. It's also evidence of the financial strains that Local Authorities are currently suffering.
Late application fees will, after 2 warning letters from the council, be charged at 25% of the licence application fee which could mean a substantial surcharge for portfolio landlords in the borough who don't make their applications on time.
