The department for business, energy and industrial strategy (BEIS) has announced the bidding competition for local authorities with successful bids to access up to £700 million of funding available to upgrade "a significant amount of" their housing stock to EPC level C. Housing Associations will also be eligible to access this funding.

The funding is available under wave 2 of the social housing decarbonisation fund (SHDF) which aims to help deliver warm energy efficient homes; reduce carbon emissions; tackle fuel poverty; support green jobs; develop the retrofit sector and improve the comfort, health & well being of social housing tenants.

The competition guidance for local authorities wishing to bid for funds should be available from July/August with an 8 week bidding period from late August/early September 2022.
