Greenwich Council public consultation on renewal of additional licensing scheme to run until 18th January 2023

Greenwich Street

If the proposed additional licensing scheme for smaller HMO properties is approved by the council it is set to commence in April 2023. The previous additional licensing scheme ended in September this year.

The council has said that the previous scheme was successful in dealing with issues such as housing conditions in HMO properties as well as fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour "However, not all landlords licensed their properties and there remains a need to continue the scheme to secure wider compliance for residents across the borough".

Reportedly there are an estimated 5000 HMO properties in Greenwich but only 1,240 of these were licensed of which 669 were smaller HMOs with additional licences. The council's on-line consultation survey can be accessed here.
