Homes for Ukraine factsheet published in English, Ukrainian and Russian as concerns raised about risk of sex trafficking and exploitation

The Govt has published a factsheet, in English, Ukrainian and Russian language versions, for individuals and families fleeing from Ukraine to the UK detailing the process to be followed for their entry to the UK. The issues covered in the factsheet include visa application and ID checks, free travel to an applicant's destination in the UK and checks carried out on the applicant's sponsor(s).

The factsheet publication comes as 16 UK charities write an open letter to Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities, Michael Gove MP, outlining concerns for the safety of vulnerable refugees from Ukraine (often young women and children) who could be at risk of exploitation by unscrupulous individuals in the UK offering accommodation or work whilst posing as legitimate sponsors under the Homes for Ukraine scheme which has been described as a potential "Tinder for sex traffickers"
