The LGA is publishing information and best practice guidance for Local Authorities and others seeking to ensure that accommodation provided by sponsors in the UK is suitable and safe for occupation by refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine.

Council's must carry out housing and safeguarding checks and the LGA publishing this best practice guidance is supporting councils in that task. The first guidance published includes a draft property inspection letter that a council will send to a prospective sponsoring accommodation provider prior to an inspection and property inspection forms for completion by council officers tasked with visiting accommodation offered by a sponsor.
