Walsall Borough Council have started a public consultation on a new proposed additional licensing scheme covering 5 wards in the town.

The consultation runs from 28th February 2022 to 13th June 2022 and covers the wards of Willenhall South, Birchills Leamore, Blakenhall, Bentley and Darlaston North and Darlaston South and will apply to smaller HMOs occupied by at least 3 households (i.e. unrelated people) using shared facilities such as a bathroom/toilet or kitchen. Failure to license could mean a landlord having to pay a civil penalty of up to £30K or, if prosecuted, an unlimited fine.
