Landlords and agents warned about cannabis farms as Rightmove reportedly removes listing showing flat with equipment still in place

Cannabis Plant

The two bed flat in Finchley, London, was advertised for auction with photographs showing much of its cannabis growing paraphernalia still inside.

Whilst private rented sector properties being used to grow cannabis has been a long standing issue, both police and anecdotal reports pointed to the Covid pandemic lockdowns as leading to a growth of this problem across the country.

Landlords and agents can be implicated "if they ignore suspicious activity" at their property and are advised to, on a reasonable basis, carry out regular property inspections to ensure they can reduce the risk arising from such activity.

The flat in Finchley advertised on Rightmove was reported on (with photograph) in The Negotiator and Rightmove have now removed the listing from their own site.
