Council estimates that 200 to 300 landlords yet to apply for licences 2 years after selective licensing scheme started.

Leeds City Council estimates that 200 to 300 private landlords have not yet applied for their selective licences in the city's Beeston Hill selective licence scheme which started in 2020.

A council spokesperson is quoted as saying that nearly 2000 properties have been licensed with a further 500 currently in the process of being licensed. 357 properties have been inspected so far with 90% of those requiring works to be done to come up to standard and the council says that 100 properties have involved formal action being commenced.

The scheme was started, in part, because so few landlords signed up to the alternative option of a voluntary accreditation scheme. The council will now be carrying out "street by street proactive visits" to ensure every licensable property will become licensed.
